Tree-canopy Kaleidoscope – etching
The concept in Japan of a nature cure (“shinrin yoku”) through forest bathing really appeals to me. It’s the sense of calm and quiet you get among trees. We don’t stop to observe nature around us enough, so this piece reminds us to look up and relish the magic of leaf and branch. It’s a way to de-stress and boost health and wellbeing if you can’t get outside as much as you’d like!
To make this etching, I scratched into recycled plastic then worked ink into the scratched surface. The inked plate is run through a traditional printing press under damp archival paper, (Fabriano brand).
30 x 30cm / 12 x 12”, professionally mounted
Each one is varied and therefore unique. You can request a colour way – eg, predominantly green, blue or yellow
Atmospheric woodland scene, handprinted and coloured by Helen Arthur, limited edition of 15*
