Hay fields high as the house - original painting, deep-sided canvas
The title for this piece is another quotation from Dylan Thomas’s poem Fern Hill… the story behind these titles is written up here. Sometimes you lean on other creatives, past and present, to generate ideas and words for your own work.
I aimed for an “uplifting palette” of soft tones with this mini series. The painting offers a playful quilted landscape view in which contrasting colours sit cheek by jowl.
As it is on a deep canvas - also known as cradled - you could hang this one as is or you could request a grey-tinted wooden tray frame for an extra cost. This will take around 2 weeks to deliver.
24” x 24” (30cm x 15cm) oil painting on cradled canvas - framed in a light wooden tray frame
option to have framed for an additional £90
original painting, signed by Helen Arthur, part of the “Patchwork Field Patterns” collection
