Time held me green - original framed oil painting
Oil on canvas, framed – 38 x 31cm (14.5 x 11.5”) - an original Welsh Marches landscape painting by Helen Arthur.
This piece is part of what I call the patchwork series, all painted with a curiosity around flattened blocks of colour. I began wondering how complimentary hues might be stitched together to enhance one another and offer something a little bit different for the viewer.
The title comes from Thomas's 1952 poem, Fern Hill, "Time held me green ", which is all about the innocence of childhood and rural life.
