Teasel Feast II – print
30cm (w) by 56cm (h) / 12" x 24" from a limited edition of 50 prints
Fine art print on archival paper of an abstracted wildlife painting by Helen Arthur.
The main reason to encourage teasels to grow in our garden is to lure in a charm of goldfinches. They are the most delightful birds with their clown red-daubed faces and pop of golden yellow on their wings. And yes, I have stolen the title of an iconic William Morris design, "Strawberry Thief" featuring thrushes.
This design is one of a pair of prints in a narrow, tall format popular in traditional Japanese printmaking.
I collaged my etching prints of the birds and teasels onto an abstracted hedgerow-jungle background to make this mixed media painting on canvas.
limited edition print on archival quality paper
from a painting in ink, acrylics, oil pastel and mixed media on canvas
unframed print, signed and editioned by Helen
