High summer on the Welsh border, hay field and barns - fine art print

£185.00

From an edition limited to 50 prints for each artwork - 60 x 45cm - in an acid-free good quality mount ready for your choice of frame.

In these sibling paintings, I aimed to capture that hazy glow you get on the hottest day of a British summer. It's late evening, and the shadows seem deep and lengthy. The trees are in full leaf so you can seek out their shade. The world seems a happier place, far from the harsher realities of life.

The clouds have a fairytale quality, while the brambles create textured shadows over the high grass, which has mellowed to a pinkish gold as summer progresses.

Both these locations are close to my studio and are regular sights on my daily walks. Our two dogs love to lie beneath the trees, stretching their bellies over the cooling grass.

The paintings n the original are layered – I work in a way that earlier colours can enticingly peep through.

The images are part of a small series created in summer 2024.
