Cats Back, First Snow – print

If you climb the sharp ascent up Cat's Back – an iconic ridge at the end of the Olchon Valley, Herefordshire – you get an incredible view over to the Welsh border. When light snowfall was followed by bright sunshine, it created a palette of soft blues and winter-yellow grass. This painting became very textured, as I layered up smudged charcoal beneath acrylic paint followed by soft pastels and some oil paint applied with a palette knife. I don't believe a paint brush was used at all here.
