Art parties

Helen’s art party recipe:

  • a bunch of friends or colleagues (4 to 6) who are up for creative play over a half day

  • your own space where we can spread our creative wings and get a bit mucky – we can work inside or outdoors, weather permitting

  • an open mind – you know, everything’s possible, right?

  • ink, charcoal, paper, sketchbooks, paint and oil pastels (all provided)

  • kind, interesting and considerate guidance – I clearly remember how it’s a bit daunting to kickstart creativity without much previous experience

We started together on one huge piece of paper, ideal as an icebreaker, playing with Indian ink and a range of tools... Then we moved to make the most of the lovely view from Clare’s house and garden, making individual brush and ink drawings.

After lunch we began working with colour and added new layers to our landscape sketches. Everyone surprised themselves with their creations.... in a good way, natch!

How it works

Do you have a space to host this event? That’s really all you need. I’ll do the rest.

You will be charged £240 for a 4 -hour artist-led workshop (which includes materials, tools and ideas).

I can work with a maximum of 6 participants and there’s no travel costs charged if you’re within a 20-mile radius of HR2 0LD. If you’re further afield, the first half hour of travel is free. Then you’ll pay £20 per half hour return travel (to include petrol and time costs).

I will bring the biccies – you’re welcome – but if you want a lunch break for half an hour or so, I recommend you organise that with your gang.

We will find a date that works for all. School days from 10 to 2pm are ideal, as I still have a school pick up to attend to. We can also chat about Saturday afternoons... I will arrive half an before our start time to prep the space and unpack my travelling art kit.

Or you can book a small group session at my studio….

I had a lovely day and came away feeling very inspired. I enjoyed the exploration of techniques and use of different materials. Our black and white piece… looks quite professional!

I’ve never enjoyed being out of my comfort zone quite so much!
